There has been a structural shift in the office sector in recent years with a move away from traditional format offices to more flexible working and co-working spaces capable of accommodating businesses at all stages of the business lifecycle and the requirements of different sectors. There is increasing demand for smaller floorplates, larger communal areas, functional outdoor spaces and broadband connectivity to all parts of the building and surrounds is an essential component. This shift is driven in part by increasingly agile working practices – hot-desking, shared workspaces, social hubs and breakout spaces, which result in the more efficient use of space. The industry is having to respond at pace.
