Sophie is a Graduate Transport Planner within Iceni’s Transport Planning team, working on a diverse range of projects across different land uses and scales.

She is developing her expertise in transport planning and development consultancy, building on experience gained during her previous role within Northern Ireland.

Sophie is passionate about understanding how transport planning and urban design can facilitate positive social and environmental change within the built environment. She has a particular interest in developing sustainable transport strategies through evidence-based analysis and using data to inform better planning outcomes. She is also enthusiastic about the role of emerging transport technologies in shaping future developments, placing innovation at the heart of projects to encourage sustainable travel choices and reduce reliance on the private car.

Her work focuses on assessing the transport impacts of development while promoting walking, cycling and public transport as attractive, accessible and practical travel options. Drawing on her Master’s degree in City Planning and Urban Design, Sophie believes that successful places begin with good street design, and that everyday journeys and people’s experiences of a place are intrinsically linked to the quality, safety and inclusivity of the streetscape. She is particularly interested in creating environments that support vulnerable users, and enable communities to move safely, comfortably and confidently through well-connected places.

Outside of work, Sophie is a keen traveller and recently returned from over a year exploring Australia and New Zealand. She also participated in yoga retreats in Bali and Thailand, experiencing an appreciation for different cultures, and communities.
