Simon joined Iceni Projects in 2023 having previously been a director of the London Town Planning team at Avison Young. During his 16 years’ planning experience working in both the private and public sector he has become a specialist in the delivery of complex and significant mixed-use planning permissions across London, Kent and the south-east. He has been responsible for leading private and public organisations through complex planning scenarios and ensuring that planning decisions create deliverable and sustainable communities.

Throughout his career, Simon has been at the forefront of projects, and he continues to remain the trusted advisor to clients whilst maintaining a ‘hands-on’ approach. As the client contact for wider planning and multi-disciplinary teams, he understands the combined strategic and detailed role of project leadership, and the need to drive projects forward with speed and accuracy. Simon enjoys the technical challenge of delivering positive planning outcomes, and the management of the whole project team to ensure client and market focused planning decisions.

Simon’s early career experience includes working at Medway Council between 2007 and 2015. He was responsible for substantial mixed-use and residential planning applications within the Borough, developing growth strategies, and the identification of strategic site allocations. As a result of living locally, and previously working for the neighboring local authority in Kent, he is well placed to understand the local barriers to planning delivery, and how to unlock projects and to navigate developments through local politics and local communities.
