She ultimately took the lead managing a key portfolio client and during this time she successfully negotiated planning permission on a large volume of applications for change of use, advertisement consent, discharge of conditions and enforcement matters, enabling the continued growth and expansion of the client nationwide.
Sandy has also skilfully negotiated planning matters for several small to mid-size projects including sites with more complicated issues such as objections from neighbours, development in the green belt, and listed buildings. More recently, Sandy has started working on larger long-term projects including the redevelopment of Slough town centre, and the provision of 1,200 new homes in a key opportunity area in Barking.
Before working at Iceni, Sandy worked in the both the public and private sector in Australia and the UK for Parsons Brinckerhoff and Opus International – now both part of WSP. She also worked as a civil/structural engineering drafter for over a decade, and previously trained as an expert in ‘Safer by Design’. This background has given her unique set of skills and understanding of the built environment – including the ability to identify potential design issues, develop a solution with the wider design team; and successfully negotiate with the local planning authorities to provide a planning permission that is deliverable.
Sandy graduated from the University of New England (Australia) in 2009 with a Bach. of Urban and Regional Planning (Hons). She is currently working towards gaining Chartered status with the Royal Town Planning Institute.
