Ryan is able to unpick complex planning matters and translate them into non-technical language that can be understood by local communities and politicians alike, helping to maximise positive engagement and de-risk clients’ interests throughout the planning process.
Ryan leads operational delivery on a wide range of projects, which involves dealing with key private sector clients such as The Crown Estate, Thakeham, Vistry, and FTSE100 companies, as well as numerous Local Authorities.
He has a wealth of experience from across the UK spanning design through to delivery of both Outline and Reserved Matters planning applications for large-scale green/grey belt sites. Ryan has led the Political and Public Engagement Strategies for nationally significant schemes, including multiple new settlements of over 2,000 homes. Recently, he designed a bespoke strategy to include focused engagement with Strategic Stakeholders and cross-party groups, facilitating roundtables and one-on-one commercial negotiations whilst adopting innovative digital technology to identify ‘the silent majority’. This was the first phase of a wider plan for up to 10,000 new homes of which Ryan continues to act as the clients’ lead strategic engagement advisor.
Ryan is a Chartered Town Planner and was the Royal Town Planning Institute’s UK Young Planner of the Year. He is also a regular conference speaker on the power of planning.
