Before making the career change into planning, Matthew worked in clinical trials for the NHS and UCL, where he developed a range of analytical skills that are transferrable to planning. Becoming increasingly interested in planning, Matthew volunteered at his local Neighbourhood Planning Forum, before finally deciding to make planning his career in 2022.

Matthew is excited to begin his planning career at Iceni whose values match his own, creating improved urban environments to better people’s lives. This is being achieved through working across the entire Strategic Team on projects relating to Socio-Economics, Environmental Impact Assessments, Health Impact Assessments and a variety of planning work.

He is the Iceni Intelligence lead for Hertfordshire, staying up to date with Local Plan preparations, key applications, housing supply and other planning matters within the county.

In his spare time, Matt enjoys hiking, taking photos and going to concerts.
