James’ work covers the full spectrum of the planning process from site appraisal and promotion through to Development Plans, regeneration strategies, planning applications and appeal work. His biggest strength lies in his ability to think strategically in order to unlock problems and deliver successful planning outcomes, and he prides himself on providing clients with the highest levels of commercial advice. This extends to identifying new business models or site opportunities, in addition to providing core planning advice.
Whilst James has successfully promoted substantial greenfield and brownfield development proposals throughout an ever lengthening career, he is equally as excited to work on smaller-scale development proposals, which have a tendency to raise planning issues that often prove equally as complex and intricate to resolve.
James leads Iceni’s Strategic Planning team, who specialise in understanding and explaining the environmental, economic and social effects of development proposals and strategies. The team produces an array of studies that measure and profile the benefits that development can bring to communities and the valuable contribution it will increasingly make to creating a more sustainable world.
