Dan is a certified business case practitioner, with extensive experience in delivering five-case business cases; in addition to funding bids, economic impact assessments, economic benefit assessments, masterplans, economic strategies, environmental impact assessments, and other bespoke projects that require economic analysis.
Dan’s experience includes development of the Ellesmere Port Town Centre Masterplan, including detailed community and stakeholder engagement; economic analysis to inform the business case for £20 million of funding for Southport Pier refurbishment; and research into barriers to town centre housing conversion, and appraisal toolkit, for Historic England.
Dan previously worked in Stantec’s Development Economics team, where he worked with both public and private sector clients across a variety of projects. He provided supporting evidence for the planning approval of Agratas Gigafactory in Bridgewater, a new Center Parcs development in the Scottish Borders, as well as multiple large-scale housing and employment land developments. He developed economic strategies for East Lothian, Falkirk, Isle of Wight, North Somerset, and Southampton councils as well as the proposed Hampshire and the Solent MCCA. He supported Dumfries and Galloway, Scottish Borders, and South Lanarkshire councils in securing Levelling Up funding, and wrote business cases to support projects to draw down funding from the Falkirk Growth Deal and the Highland Investment Plan.
