Mental Health Awareness Week: Making space for Movement and Mindfulness

14 May 25

Mental health, like physical health, is something we all have. It moves and shifts with the seasons of our lives – sometimes flourishing, sometimes fragile. It isn’t always visible, and it’s not always easy to talk about. That’s why this week matters. It creates room for open, honest dialogue – and reminds us that it’s okay to not be okay.

This week marks Mental Health Awareness Week, a national initiative that gives us the chance to pause, reflect, and reconnect with something fundamental to every part of our lives – our wellbeing.

The theme for 2025 is “Movement: Moving more for our mental health.” At Iceni, movement is second nature. It’s built into the fabric of what we do – helping shape places, drive progress, and guide change. Whether it’s the evolution of cities or the personal growth of our team members, we understand momentum. But this week asks us to think about movement through a different lens: not just as action, but as care – care for our minds, our emotions, and our everyday resilience.

And it doesn’t have to mean high-impact exercise or clocking up miles on the treadmill (though if that’s your thing, fantastic!). More often, it’s the subtle, intentional actions – stepping away from the screen, taking a walk around the block, pausing to stretch, or choosing a walking meeting – it can all bring us back to balance. These micro-movements may seem small, but they offer breathing space in otherwise full days. They invite us to slow down, reset and be present.

At Iceni, we’re committed to fostering an environment where wellbeing and performance go hand in hand. We want our colleagues, our clients, and our partners to feel supported and seen – not just for what they do, but for who they are. Everyone’s experience is different, and whether you’re thriving or quietly finding things difficult, you deserve care and understanding.

So this week, we encourage you to move more – physically, mentally, emotionally. Check in with yourself. Reach out to someone. Take ten mindful minutes. These simple acts, repeated and shared, can have a powerful ripple effect.

Let’s keep moving – together. With intention, with compassion, and with a little more kindness to ourselves and those around us.
