You may have seen the recent musings from our Founder and Chief Executive, Ian, reflecting on 20 years of Iceni and how the company has grown. It is quite the feat to have evolved from the original three amigos (Ian, James & Madi) to a tribe of over 160 talented individuals spread across London, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow and Edinburgh, who now all make up Iceni.

So, what’s next? We have been reflecting on how we can continue to best serve our clients, whilst evolving and growing our business, and I am pleased to announce that as of 4th April 2025, Iceni is an Employee-Owned Business. 100% of the company’s ownership has been transferred from the existing shareholders to the Iceni Projects Employee Ownership Trust. We believe this will ensure Iceni remains independent, agile, and critically, led by the people who drive its success. This is an exciting time for us.

Many of you will know that from the very start, we’ve done things our own way. Creativity, entrepreneurship, and putting people first – that’s what has always made Iceni different. Moving to employee ownership is about preserving that difference for the future. It feels like a natural and logical step for us, as we’ve always been employee-led; this change simply formalises the culture and values that already define us.

This transition marks a significant milestone, and we’re exceptionally excited about what lies ahead for the company. From the perspective of our clients, trusted partners and wider network, we will continue to operate as we have always done; seeking to deliver the best outcomes for our clients in building resilient communities, buildings and places where people truly want to live, work and play.

You might be wondering why Ian isn’t writing this email as our founder and Chief Executive? Well, because going forward, I’m a co-owner of Iceni along with Ian and my other 160 colleagues. This new chapter belongs to all of us. We’re staying different.
