On 18th November 2020, the Prime Minister announced a Ten Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution, providing a blueprint for the UK’s plan to meet the 2050 zero carbon target.

With the aim of establishing a net zero carbon economy, the proposed changes are set to impact on all sectors, including new development of all types. It is intended that a move towards renewable and low-carbon technologies, coupled with the enforcement of the Future Homes Standard and its associated uplift in energy efficiency requirements, will aid in ending the UK’s reliance on fossil fuels. Government funding is to be invested in developing new technologies and the upgrading of existing transport infrastructure in a drive to deliver the changes needed for the UK to meet its climate change ambitions.
