Tom joined Iceni Projects in March 2018, after honing his skills at interdisciplinary design firm Alan Baxter. He is an experienced heritage consultant with a keen eye for detail and relishes working closely with design teams to reach successful outcomes for sensitive sites.
Tom provides incisive, commercial heritage advice and reports including Heritage Statements, listing rebuttals, assessments of significance, and Environmental Statement built heritage chapters. His experience at securing consents for complex projects spans from large mixed-use schemes and tall buildings in sensitive historic contexts to the refurbishment of individual listed buildings. He is skilled at carrying out forensic examinations of historic development and architectural details in order to build a robust case for radical alterations to listed buildings, as well as demolition and new development.
Tom specialises in post-war architecture and industrial buildings and infrastructure. He has a rare understanding of the heritage impacts and mitigation involved in major engineering projects, having advised Network Rail on upgrading its historic estate.
